There always seems to be a new article on the Internet telling you not to drink from plastic water bottles, listing 2, 5 or even more reasons why. The suggestion only makes sense if the reasons are credible, and this is where the articles come up short. 
 
The three simple reasons below are how you can ignore the however many reasons online and continue to drink out of plastic water bottles as much as you want. 
 
1. Plastic water (and soda) bottles do not contain BPA

Next time you walk down the canned food aisle of the grocery store, take a close look at the labels on the cans.  You’re likely to see some with logos indicating that the product is BPA-Free.  Since the labels provide no information to explain what that really means, you probably assume it must be a good thing.  If it isn’t, why would they put it on the label?

AAP Misses the Facts on BPA

The eye-catching headline of a recent news statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) misses the facts on BPA. The headline claimed that “some common food additives may pose health risks to children.”  And that’s what the media reported, and in some cases embellished, apparently without asking too many questions about the BPA facts.

Should Kiwis Be Concerned About Exposure To BPA?

An important piece of information to answer that question is the level of exposure to BPA for people in New Zealand.  Somewhat surprisingly, considering how thoroughly BPA has been studied, no one has apparently measured BPA exposure levels in Kiwis.  That data gap makes a new report from New Zealand both novel and important.
